A man who wandered into traffic in Iron County was treated for injuries after being struck by a vehicle Sunday.
According to the Iron County Sheriff's Department, John Leppiaho was struck by a vehicle on US-2 at 10 p.m. on Sunday.
The driver of the vehicle, Jamie Metheringham, believed there was a deer in the road and slowed down. According to police, Metheringham soon realized it was a person and attempted to avoid hitting him.
Police say Leppiaho was struck by the front and mirror of Metheringham's vehicle. Leppiaho was taken to Northstar Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. According to the sheriff's department, Leppiaho had a medical condition that caused him to walk into the path of traffic.
