Pedestrian hospitalized after being struck on highway

A 51-year-old Marquette man, identified as Harlan Wayne Lamb, was sent to the hospital on Friday night after he sustained serious injuries in a car versus pedestrian accident.

The accident happened around 10:22 p.m. Friday at the intersection of S. Front St. and Genesee St. in front of Beef-A-Roo in South Marquette. Marquette City Police said Lamb was hit while crossing east to west on Front Street while the stoplight was flashing. He was struck by a vehicle traveling north toward Marquette in the outside lane. The vehicle, a 2001 Nissan sedan, was driven by 34-year-old Jed Tyner of Eben.

As of early Saturday morning, Lamb was being treated for serious injuries at Marquette General Hospital.

Marquette City Police called accident reconstruction experts to work on the scene. They expect to put together a report by next week to determine who, or if anyone, is at fault. Police at the scene said they do not believe the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
