It's a show like none other, featuring many well-known local performers. Night of a Thousand Stars brings together a variety of different acts.
"Folk musicians, some blues guitars; we have opera singers, we have a special surprise, act one ending, which I think everyone will very much enjoy," said Denise Clark, co-director.
With a cast of 14, there will be various singers to actors giving their best performance. Expect to see the cast from the recent hit Avenue Q, Rusty Bowers, and BG Bradley with his sons will be doing a bit from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar.
"We are going to be in suits and ties. I'm kind of feeling we are trying to do something a bit more modern with it, where Caesar is a politician," said Tag Bradley, performer.
This is the annual fundraiser for the First Nighters Club. All funds will go to supporting Northern Michigan University's theater students.
"For scholarships that go to the theater students, both for them and for their schooling. It also goes toward the trip that they take to New York City to Broadway to see how things really work in the professional theater business," said Jeff Spencer, co-director.
Organizers hope this special show raises at least $7,000. It will be a two-hour performance, and it's happening Friday, March 15, at 7:30 p.m. at Forest Roberts Theatre on NMU's campus. Admission is $10 for students and $20 for adults. Click here for more information: http://www.nmu.edu/calendar/events/index.php?com=detail&eID=111474
