      Person hit by vehicle

      UPDATE: An elderly man died in a vehicle-pedestrian accident Saturday morning in Marquette. Marquette City Police report Donald Papin, 86, of Marquette was crossing West Washington Street around 7 a.m. Saturday in the area of Burger King when he was hit by the van. The driver of the van is a 50-year-old Marquette man who was on his way to work. The van was heading east, as Papin was crossing the road north to south. Papin died as the result of his injuries. The accident is still under investigation.


      Marquette City Police are investigating an accident involving a mini-van and a pedestrian. It happened shortly after 7 a.m. Saturday on Marquette's Washington Street, by Mathews Floor Fashions. Police report a person was apparently walking across Washington Street when they were hit. The yet unidentified person was taken to Marquette General Hospital with serious injuries. No name is being released. Marquette City Police are investigating. It was dark at the time of the accident. The driver of the mini-van is cooperating with police.
