Pharmacies evaluate security in wake of local robbery

With the recent armed robbery of the People's Drug Store in Escanaba, other local pharmacies are evaluating their security practices.

Elmer's County Market feels their system is secure. According to Elmer's officials, their pharmacy, and entire store, is monitored by many cameras. Also located in the pharmacy is a silent alarm. To further impede criminals, the high class pills, including narcotics, are stored in a safe.

"You know, I feel this is a secure location," says co-owner Mike Dagenais. "Yeah, we hope everyone realizes that we are active in trying to curb the situation and that we're going to work hard at trying to stay safe here at Elmer's."

The store also said they find peace of mind being located less than a block away from Escanaba Public Safety.
