With only a month left until the annual ski jumping competitions in Iron Mountain, the Kiwanis Ski Club is making preparations on the steep slope.
The ski club uses a snow gun to create the snow and a â??Snow Catâ?? which is used to spread the snow around and on the jump. Those in the club said theyâ??re excited for another fun year of jumping and are anxious to get the show on the road.
â??We had hoped to start snow making today, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, we have to wait until about Saturday,â?? said club president, Nick Blagec. â??The weather is supposed to be kind of 30-ish degrees in the next couple days, so we're going to start making snow on Sunday; early Sunday.â??
This year is the 75th annual FIS Continental Cup Tournament and the event runs February 7-9.
