The cold weather is freezing more than just Lake Superior. Many water pipes have been freezing across Marquette.
Wednesday, the 300th block of Front Street was closed so crews could repair water lines.
The consistent cold temperatures have allowed the frost level to drop close to water pipes underground.
"We've got probably 120 freeze-ups so far this year. Our average is around half a dozen a year or less," said Scott Cambensy, Superintendent of Public Works in Marquette.
To keep your pipes from freezing, be sure to insulate all pipes that run along your home's exterior. It is also advised to run water for about two to three minutes per day so the same water is not continually sitting in your pipes.
