A new plastic ski slope has been completed at the Ishpeming Suicide Bowl. They celebrated the grand opening of the 25-meter hill with a ribbon breaking ceremony.
Rainy weather postponed most of the festival's events until two weeks from now. But that didn't stop those who showed up Saturday from having a little fun with pumpkin rolling. "It's really a lot of fun. The pumpkins go quite fast and if they hit a bump, sometimes they'll smash before they get down to the bottom, and it's always a thrill to see it happening. It's as much fun for spectators as it is for kids," said President of the Ishpeming Ski Club, Tom Peterson.
This brings the total number of year-round plastic ski hills to three, ranging from 13 meters to 40 meters.
