      Police arrest woman after high-speed chase

      A 22-year-old woman is in custody following a high-speed chase that took place near Hancock on Friday.

      According to the Michigan State Police, a woman from Georgia was driving on US-41 when police attempted a traffic stop. Police stated that the driver failed to stop at a stop sign and was not wearing a seat belt.

      The MSP reports that the driver took off on US-41 before being stopped using a pursuit intervention technique near Mesnard Loc. The chase reached speeds of 85 miles per hour.

      The suspect was lodged in the Houghton County Jail on a charge of fleeing and eluding police. No additional information is available at this time.
