Poll: Police in Schools
Starting tomorrow, armed police officers will be stationed at all schools in the Marlboro Township, New Jersey district.
The township's high school already has a uniformed officer stationed there during the day. Another officer visits both the middle and elementary schools. But come tomorrow, officers will man each school while students are there. The change comes just weeks after a gunman killed 20 children and 6 adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
Marlboro leaders say police officers in all schools will be the new normal, while they hammer out a permanent, upgraded security plan for the district. The idea of an armed guard is similar to one proposed by the National Rifle Association, one week after the Newtown shooting. The mayor says he came up with the idea before the NRA suggested it.
Tonight in the Daily Pulse we're wondering: Would you support the addition of an armed police officer at schools? Yes or no? Why or why not?
