A downed power line sparked a brush fire Thursday afternoon in Forsyth Township. It happened behind a home located at 808 Airfield Road. DNR officials say about two acres burned before the fire was contained. No one was injured and no property was damaged. Officials say strong winds made containment a challenge.
"The high winds today certainly don't help us for fire control; they spread the fire rapidly. Any embers that get lofted will travel quite a distance," said Pete Glover of the DNR.
A pond near the fire helped prevent it from spreading. The DNR continued to work on putting out hot spots.
