Fifteen-hundred customers in Gwinn have had their power restored.
There is a major power outage in Upper Michigan. The electricity has gone out for some 4,800 customers of the Upper Peninsula Power Company. According to an UPPCO spokesperson, two sub-stations failed around 3 p.m. Friday. The areas left without power: Gwinn, were some 4,000 residents were affected, also 447 in Little Lake, 171 customers in the Negaunee area, and 36 in Skandia. There may be other outages for UPPCO customers from the Keweenaw to Manistique. Electric crews are right now working to restore power. Officials say it could be back on within the hour.
