The Presque Isle Marina and boat launch will be closed starting next Monday, May 6. Dredging in the marina is set to begin that day. It will be closed until July 1. The Marquette city parks and recreation office is letting boaters know where they can go to launch their boats during the dredging.
"Unfortunately this is the price of progress in order to get things in better shape; boaters, we're asking to go ahead and use the Cinder Pond Marina," said Jon Swenson from the Marquette Parks and Recreation Office. "We apologize for the inconvenience that may cause, but that's the facility that's available at this time."
The Presque Isle Marina project has been broken down into five phases, the dredging is phase one. Marquette will get nearly half a million dollars for the marina project, thanks to legislation recently signed by Governor Rick Snyder.
