Upper Michigan is still under a state of emergency for propane. The Michigan Public Service Commission says a widespread shortage will face additional challenges next week when a facility in Wisconsin that supplies fuel shuts down for maintenance.
Propane inventories in Upper Michigan are 43-percent below last year's level. The Public Service Commission says supplies will be tight through at least the end of the month.
Governor Snyder has declared a state of emergency for both propane and heating oil through January 31. The executive order exempts propane and heating oil truck drivers from hours of service regulations.
Nationwide, 24 states have declared similar propane emergencies.
