A special event takes place at the Norway Speedway every year for an important cause. The Race for a Cure event is taking place in a few weeks, but racers are already prepping.
Racers and spectators found a way to support cancer patients at Dickinson County Healthcare System by doing what they do best.
Every year for the event, laps can be purchased for $20 for the 100-lap race. Some have already started decorating their cars for the event that brings in thousands of dollars every year.
â??Last year they raised, I believe, upwards of $10,000 and that is to stay locally,â?? said Norway Speedway president, Joe Pontbriand. â??DCH, they keep it in-house and do what they choose to do with it, but for the most part, it does stay locally, and that's an amazing thing on their end.â??
The proceeds from the event, sponsored by Boss Snowplow, benefit cancer patients and their families' needs at DCH.
