Model trains are often a welcome sight in the Christmas season. The Upper Michigan Central Model Railroad Club held their annual Thanksgiving open house this weekend in Escanaba.
Events like this one allow outside admirers to take a look. The club assembled a Christmas model for the event. The main attractions are their traveling model and massive permanent model that use H.O. scale trains.
The model railroads are in a constant state of growth.
"The model railroading itself, on a layout like we have right here, we're trying to recreate the real world in miniature," said Club President Darryl Bernett. "You're never done. There's always something new that you can add on to the present level of detail that we have."
The club has more than 30 members and was founded more than 20 years ago.
