Runners up in Grand Marais braved the rain to participate in the 11th annual Grand Marais 5K on Saturday. 26 runners came out to run along the shores of Lake Superior. The Grand Marais Chamber of Commerce puts on the race. All of the proceeds go back into the chamber's general fund with leftover money going towards the 4th of July fireworks. Organizers just want to give people a way to exercise and be active.
"It's just fun to be in shape, it's fun to go out and enjoy the out of doors," Race Chairman Ed Bowen said. "It's fun to try to keep your body pretty much in shape, walk or run it's so good for you."
The 5K cost $15 and every participant received a shirt and most got a medal. The race preceded the annual junior triathlon. The adult triathlon will be held on Sunday.
