Many events may have been hurt by the downpours around Upper Michigan Saturday, but Uptoberfest seemed to remain unfathomed.
The annual Uptoberfest returned to downtown Escanaba Saturday, and despite the rainy weather, organizers said the turnout was great.
The event is a fundraiser that benefits the United Way, an organization helping build the local community.
Within thirty minutes of the event, rain became so severe that the tent proved no match, and the tent had two severe leaks. But those in attendance didnâ??t let a little bad weather ruin their fun.
"Itâ??s very important to give back to the communities," said Escanaba resident Marilyn Noble. "United Way is great, and they keep the money local, and, of course, the beer is wonderful."
Organizers say this year they sold the highest amount of presale tickets for the event.
