Rain no deterrent for students moving out of dorms

The rainy weather didn't stop Northern Michigan University students from getting ready to hit the road for the summer.

Students are wrapping up finals week and packing. Many students will be moving out of the dorms during the next few days, but for some students, summer starts with a long drive, and then plenty of work.

"It's going to be my third year at Northern Michigan University, I'm from Norco, Connecticut and this summer I'm planning on driving back there, it's like a 22 hour drive," said Ryan Arnold, NMU student. "I'm going to be a self-employed contractor; I'm going to be working on building and refinishing houses. Northern Michigan has been the best year of my life, I've got a great family, great friends and I couldn't be happier being here."

Final exam week finishes up Saturday. Commencement ceremony for seniors is also Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Superior Dome.
