Mid Peninsula School in Rock is turning Reading Month into a friendly competition. Each Wednesday six teams meet in the gym for a hands-on Dr. Seuss themed game.
The goal is to get the students reading while keeping their bodies moving. Each team has about 10 students, all from different grades. The teams are named after a Dr. Seuss book, and the students made shirts to match their theme. Last week??s focus was on rhyming, but this week??s game is proving to be a little more challenging.
??Well, we were unscrambling these sentences from Dr. Seuss books,?? said first grader Alex Norden.
The game was played in rounds, with teams earning points for making the correct sentence in the shortest amount of time. The winning team was announced at the end of the game.
