Sun, 18 Aug 2013 04:35:27 GMT — A record number of racers turned out for the 5th annual Marquette Trail 50 Ultramarathon. Runners had their choice of a 50 kilometer or 50 mile race. Volunteers organized the event as a fundraiser for the Noquemanon Trail Network. It's an effort to promote a healthy lifestyle and trail building along the network. There were about 150 racers this year, more than double from last year. Matias Saari from Alaska was the first one to finish the 50K. "Running for four hours on some pretty challenging trails is aways hard, but I had a blast. It was really special to run my hometown trails and the trails I used to hike as a kid," said Saari. Saari finished at just over four hours and four minutes.
