Congressman Dan Benishek was in Ishpeming Wednesday to introduce a new contest to high school students.
The 2014 House App Contest gives kids a chance to design their own smartphone or tablet app. The winning app will be on the US House of Representatives' website.
The contest rules say you don't need to know anything about designing apps because help is available.
"Apps, I think, are a good tool and they're never going to go away; they're here and they're here to stay and they're only going to get better, so this competition is good," said Cora Bleau, Ishpeming High School senior. "I think it's sending a positive message out to the youth."
Students have until February 1 to submit their app. For more information on the contest, click here.
