The Rio Tinto Eagle Mine published their Community Scorecard .
Rio Tinto says the scorecard allows community members to rate their performance in five areas voted most important by the people within local communities. The five areas are: environmental performance, local hire, safety, transparency and communication, and leaving more wood on the woodpile.
The results found that the company is meeting or exceeding expectations.
Some of the community forums were held in Michigamme, Humboldt, Baraga/L'Anse, Ishpeming and Marquette last September.
Rio Tinto says this is the first community scorecard to be published, and the community forums, community scoring, and publishing of the results will occur every six months.
