Mon, 22 Apr 2013 04:19:09 GMT — Rock collectors came together in Ishpeming Sunday for the annual Mineral Silent Auction. The event is a fundraiser for the Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club. The club uses the money to support community events and awards to Northern Michigan University and Michigan Tech students. Hundreds of rocks from all across the country were available through silent auction. The rocks for sale were all donated, many from club member Bob Clark. Clark makes the display cases for certain rocks, but he, too, was there to add to his collection. "I will be buying specimens today as well because, unfortunately, I am addicted to rock and mineral specimens. If I see something that I don't have in my collection right now, I will probably bid for it," said Clark. The Rock and Mineral Club will hold their next large auction in August.
