Mixed martial arts cage fighting is coming back to the Upper Peninsula with Superior Fights III this Saturday. The fight will feature local fighters using a combination of Muay Thai kickboxing as well as Jujitsu.
Ishpeming native Jeremy Nelson is well into his training at the American Muay Tai Gym in Marquette. Nelson says that the training is key to his success.
"That adrenaline rush is like nothing else. Once that cage closes, sometimes you'll have in fights what's called the adrenaline dump; after that wears off, then you're left to everything you've worked up to with training and training your body to fight through--the tiredness, the fatigue, and everything like that," said Jeremy Nelson, MMA fighter.
Nelson will bring his 6-0 MMA record to the fight. The official weigh-in for the fight is Friday at Upfront & Company beginning at 7 p.m. The fights are scheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m. at Lakeview Arena in Marquette.
