The Marquette Royales hockey team continue their impressive inaugural season with a trip to nationals. Tuesday afternoon the team loaded onto a bus headed for Connecticut. The championship games are set to begin Thursday April 3. The Royales already won the regular season championship and the league tournament. Coaches say even though they have a long road trip ahead the players are ready to go.
"The excitement level is so high right now I don't think its going to be tough after the big weekend we had over in Wisconsin our guys are just riding high right now," said Associate Head Coach Cliff Cook. "At this point its just about having fun, we've realized our big goal of getting to nationals, the pressures off, we can go out have some fun and see if we cant surprise some people and win this thing."
The tournament will feature 12 of the best junior hockey teams from across the country. The Royales first game will be against the Helena Bighorns.
