There are many runs and walks this summer, all for good causes. But Elisabeth Carothers says there's never been one quite like the one she's planning.
Carothers is planning a 5K run/walk to benefit the Jacobetti Home for Veterans Member's Assistance Fund, called the Run for Freedom. The run is June 1st in Palmer, with registration starting at 10 a.m. at the start line.
The route is a little different than the ones you might be used to, though. It starts in the heart of Palmer on Richmond Road, also known as County Road MC.
Runners will then travel down the dirt road through the woods, ending up in a picturesque field, known as Paris Field, and run back to the starting point.
"I thought that this was kind of my way of paying it forward to the heroes that are local. Making sure that I can do something, even if it is small, to say thanks." said Carothers.
Registration is $15, and all proceeds go to the Member's Assistance Fund. Kids 10 and under can attend for free. For information on how to register, you can call Elisabeth at #906-250-6465.
