The Great Lakes Rodeo is coming to the Marquette County Fairgrounds this weekend.
This will be the ninth year for the show that includes two rodeo performances, skills competitions and camping opportunities.
The event also raises money for local youth groups like Boy Scouts, 4H programs and sports teams. To date they've been able to raise more than $20,000 and the event grows each year.
"It started out nine years ago as just a small little fundraiser in the back yard kind of thing, and it's really grown into a whole weekend full event," says Jesie Melchiori, rodeo president. "When it's all said and done and the weekend is over all of the funds go back to the youth in the community."
Things get underway Friday with a skill competition at 5 p.m. at the fairgrounds. Saturday the first rodeo performance starts at 6 p.m.
Sunday, fathers get in free when accompanied by their children and the final rodeo begins at 3 p.m.
The cost for adults is $12 at the gate.
