The historic Sand Point Lighthouse in Escanaba is open the two days following Christmas. The lighthouse is decorated for the holidays, complete with a vintage-styled Christmas tree. Guests are encouraged to enjoy hot cider and homemade cookies as they tour the museum.
Both young and old enjoy touring the lighthouse and reading about its history.
One of the guests was revisiting a place from her childhood. Captain Armstrong, her grandfather, lived in and operated the lighthouse.
â??I fell down the basement stairs here in my walker. I donâ??t remember that, I was too little.â??
Armstrongâ??s picture and uniform can be seen in the museum.
Friday, the lighthouse will be open 1-4 p.m. and is free for all.
