The Iron Mountain man who spit in a VA officerâ??s sandwich was sentenced Monday in Dickinson County Circuit Court. Twenty-four-year old Dalton Ursulean was charged with one count of placing a harmful object into food. On Monday, it was stated Ursulean tested positive for Hepatitis C, a viral disease transmitted through the blood; this escalated the situation to include an offense variable of a "lethal potential of weapon".
He was sentenced to a minimum of 29 months and a maximum of 20 years with credit for 347 days served. The charge stems from the August 28 incident where Ursulean spit into an officerâ??s sandwich at McDonaldâ??s. Ursulean said he was unaware that he was carrying the Hepatitis C virus; the victim in the situation tested negative for the virus.
