Escanaba, Mid Peninsula, and Holy Name Schools were all cancelled Tuesday morning due to power outages. The City of Escanaba Electric Department said a piece of equipment at a substation was to blame.
Around 6:30 a.m. a connector ??went bad.?? It took the company about an hour and a half to get power back on, according to Superintendant Mike Furmanski. The problem has not been permanently fixed, but the power company was able to bypass the problem-causing connector and restart power to its consumers around 8 a.m.
The outage affected about 3,000 customers, said officials.
