Students at Cherry Creek Elementary School are spreading the holiday spirit by donating books with its 25th annual Gift of Reading project.
Schools in the Marquette and Alger County area are participating, and the kids can't do it alone. They need your help. Drop off any books you don't want anymore at your local school. The books will be donated to organizations in the community like Harbor House, Beacon House, youth centers, and the Veterans center.
"It's exactly like just giving a present to people except books are very important because they help you in school a lot, too," said third grader, Melinda Meehleder.
"Kids that don't have books, I just want them to know what it feels like to read books and experience what it feels like," added fifth grader, Hunter Sides.
Last year, Cherry Creek had almost 500 book donations. This year they're hoping to get more. You have until December 5 to bring in books.
