The Michigan State Police are investigating a crash between a semi truck and a minivan that happened on Sunday afternoon west of Manistique.
According to the police, the minivan crossed the centerline of US-2 and struck an oncoming semi truck. The minivan then rolled several times before coming to rest in a ditch.
Eighteen-year-old Austin Balfany and his 18-year-old passenger in the minivan were taken to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital after being extracted from the wreckage. Balfany and his passenger were then transferred to Marquette General Hospital. Balfany was still listed in serious condition as of Monday afternoon.
The driver of the semi truck, 69-year-old David Church, was not injured in the crash.
Police say that alcohol was not a factor in the crash but are continuing to investigate.
