Seniors Treated to Music From Air Force Band

Seniors at the Negaunee Senior Center were treated to a concert on Wednesday. The U.S Air Force Band of Mid America, Midwest Winds, stopped by to play some favorite pieces. The quintet played arrangements from marches, operas, and even military songs.

"They started out by playing the National Anthem and that really tugged at the heart strings of some of our veterans, everybody was standing and looking for the flag," Negaunee Senior Center Director Kristy Basolo-Malmsten said. "They played some other patriotic pieces as well that have really resonated with our veterans, and you see a little bit of teary eyes over there and people are really enjoying themselves."

Negaunee was just one stop on the Midwest Winds' tour of the U.P. The band will be in Ishpeming on Thursday, Iron Mountain on Friday, and in Marquette for Harbor Fest on Saturday. Wednesday's concert was free and open to the public.
