Tue, 22 Jul 2014 11:45:13 GMT — The National Weather Service office in Negaunee Township has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northern Marquette County effective until 8:15 a.m. EDT Tuesday. A line of severe thunderstorms is currently eastbound at 50 MPH into western Marquette County. Primary weather threats include wind gusts up to 60 MPH, which could create damage to rooftops, siding and trees. However, locally heavy rain, large hail and numerous cloud-to-ground lightning strikes are also possible. Locations initially impacted include: Ishpeming, Marquette, Negaunee, Trowbridge Park, Harvey, National Mine, Halfway, Sugarloaf Mountain and Beaver Grove. Eastbound storms are expected to slowly weaken as they approach eastern Upper Michigan through mid to late-morning.For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest level of a building.
