Memorial Day weekend usually marks the unofficial start of summer and with that tourism season. Shipwreck Tours in Munising is opening their doors and giving their first tours of the season Saturday.
They offer two hour glass bottom boat tours of three shipwrecks in the Bay Area. While ice is still on the lake it should not be a factor for the touring company.
The captains say they're just hoping for a good turnout on their first weekend of the season.
"This weekend is a critical weekend for the beginning of the tourism season, our season is really short here in the upper peninsula so each day matters," says Captain Joe Lundquist. "This weekend in particular kind of tells us how our season is going to go."
Shipwreck Tours has two tours a day at 10 a.m. and at 1 p.m.
The cost is $36 for adults and $12 for children ages five to twelve.
