The Marquette Royales hockey team is partnering with the Superior Health Foundation for a new event called Skate for Life. The goal for the event is to raise both money and awareness for organ donations.
They're inviting the community out to their games on Friday and Saturday Night as they take on the Wisconsin Rampage. Following Saturday's game, you have a chance to skate around with the players.
"We've got a few players who have aunts, uncles, even parents that are transplant recipients, so it's close to home for a lot of us, so it's really exciting time for us to get involved," said Cliff Cook, Associate Head Coach for the Royales.
"Really, this event and the work that the committee is doing really fits into our mission about improving health care in the Upper Peninsula, and we just think it's a wonderful event," said Jim LaJoie from the Superior Health Foundation.
Game time is at 7:30 both nights. There will also be a 50-50 raffle at the games as well as an auction featuring items donated by the team.
