Slower snowmobile season than expected, but not bad

There has been plenty of snow across the Upper Peninsula this year for snowmobiling, but business in some areas has not met expectations.

Cold temperatures and snow from the surrounding areas has kept some snowmobilers away from parts of the U.P. Not as much business has been seen in Alger County, but that doesn't mean it has been a bad season.

With cold temperatures and snow still on the ground, there is still an opportunity to continue seeing snowmobilers for the next couple of weeks.

"We do expect to have late season riders. Historically there have been late riders that like to come up in the spring and get those last rides in," said Ben Cooper, owner of the Buckhorn Resort.

Trail conditions are still good across Alger County which is wonderful news for riders that are seeing snow disappear further south in places like Wisconsin.
