If you're looking for some winter fun and a way to stay warm outdoors, try snowshoeing. Sunday was the second in a series of snowshoe events at the Noquemanon Trail head in Forestville in Marquette Township. Sunday afternoon was the "Family Fun Night Snowshoeing Trek," complete with a potluck meal afterwards. This series of snowshoe activities runs through March, and you can join in at anytime. Sunday, kids to adults went on a two-mile hike to Hogsback Mountain using the North Country Trail. Some 20 people took part in the family fun event.
"It's a way of getting outside in the winter, kind of bringing over the snowshoeing skills, with also doing a little bit of running. Some of the folks out today will probably do a little running, but hiking is just fine, too. It's a great way to get some exercise, especially with all this nice powder that we have," said Andrew Grosvenor of the Superior Snowshoe Series.
This is the first year for the Superior Snowshoe Series. The cost is $5 for Noquemanon members, $15 for non-members. Experienced or novice snowshoers are always welcome. Snowshoe rentals are available.
