State Police dispels rumor about trailer hitches

Michigan State Police at the Calumet Post dispel a rumor about the illegality of operating a vehicle with a trailer hitch while not pulling a trailer.

Officials report that a rumor has been spreading across the Keweenaw that Troopers are ticketing motorists for having a "Reese style" trailer on their vehicle with no trailer. While a bill was introduced in 2012 calling for restrictions on operating a vehicle with temporary towing devices, the bill never passed the house.Police say that if a resident has received a citation for this violation, it is not legitimate and should be brought to the attention of the MSP Calumet Post.
