      State trooper involved in fatal shooting

      State Police are investigating a fatal shooting involving a Michigan State Police Trooper. The incident happened at 6:05 p.m. Thursday at a residence in Humboldt Township.

      A Michigan State Police trooper and a Marquette County Sheriff's deputy were responding to a report of a domestic dispute involving a firearm. Officers say they were confronted by an armed female upon arrival to the scene.

      The investigation is ongoing to determine what happened, but initial indications are the trooper fatally shot a 50-year-old Champion woman. Her name has not been released.

      State Police, along with the Marquette Forensic Science Labs, are assisting investigators on the scene.
