      Station Marquette Coast Guard welcomes new Chief

      Changes in authority have come for the Marquette Coast Guard.

      Chief Boatswain's Mate Patrick Brown will replace Chief Boatswain's Mate James Robertson.

      Wednesday, June 11 the Change of Command ceremony was held outside of the U.S. Coast Guard Station in Marquette.

      Chief Robertson, who has been the station's officer in charge since June 2013, will be retiring after 21 years of service for the U.S. Coast Guard.

      Chief Patrick Brown entered the Coast Guard in 2000 and comes to Marquette from his previous station at Barnegat Light, New Jersey.

      Marquette's newest coast guard chief has received various medals and awards for his service over the years, including a Coast Guard Commendation Medal.

      Brown will assume his duties as chief immediately.
