Stewart Manufacturing works for the U.P.

A Hermansville manufacturing company has been consistently growing since their start in 2002 and now produces about one million parts per year.

Stewart Manufacturing prides themselves on their diversity of products. Using their computer numerical control (CNC) precision machines, they are able to provide a variety of goods to industries ranging from automotive to medical.

â??I think thatâ??s really boded well for us and helped us survive a very volatile economic state,â?? said director of manufacturing operations at Stewart Manufacturing, Randall McLeod.

Their top two produced commodities are hydraulics and turbos.

â??Weâ??re turning turbo housings into lathes and then putting them in the machine center and drilling a bunch of holes in them,â?? said employee Josh Yates.

As their business continues to grow, so does their building. Stewart Manufacturing is in the midst of an expansion. Currently home to 110 full-time employees, they are looking to add 10 to 15 more in the near future.

In addition to more space, they have recently incorporated automation into their company.

â??So, what we have is one operator that can handle a total of four machines which enhances our ability to service the types of volumes that we are seeing right now,â?? McLeod said.

Stewart Manufacturing is adding more diversity to their company by expanding into the medical field in lower Michigan.
