An early morning storm that moved through the Upper Peninsula on Monday left thousands of customers without power.
According to the Upper Peninsula Power Company, Ishpeming was the hardest hit when it came to power outages following the morning storm. Over 60 outages have been reported in the Ishpeming area, leaving 1,795 people without power.
UPPCO says that more than 1,800 people were still without power early Monday morning. The Houghton district plans to have service restored in that area by mid-day on Monday.
The power company added that the Ishpeming outages will take more time to resolve due to power poles being broken by high winds. The service to the Ishpeming area is expected to be restored some time on Monday.
Other Upper Michigan outages included the eastern U.P. near Drummond Island and Moran. Reports from Cloverland Electric Cooperative stated that around 6,600 customers were without power following the storms, but service in those areas has been restored.
We will provide further updates as information comes in. UPPCO did state that the service outage map is currently not working on their website.
