The investigation into the death of a Northern Michigan University student is closed, according to an NMU official.
Twenty-two-year-old Monica Matus from Chicago was found dead in her Woodland Park apartment Friday afternoon. The complex is owned by the university and is located off Wright Street.
The university says there was no foul play involved and there was no connection to any university accident. An official says any further information, including the autopsy results, would have to come from the family.
Matus was an art and design, secondary education major and a film studies minor.
There is a memorial service planned that includes sharing memories, poems and songs which will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home. A sunrise flower petal ceremony will take place at 8 a.m. Thursday at McCarty's Cove. The event will begin at the Coast Guard Lighthouse.
