One woman was reported in distress and rescued on Sunday after jumping into Lake Superior off Black Rocks located on Presque Isle.
The Marquette Police Department reports that the woman was with a group of students from Oakland University that were filming in the area. Police say the group asked Park Patrol personnel questions about Black Rocks. The park personnel advised against jumping into the water due to the temperature of the lake.
Police say the group did not take that advice and jumped into the water. According to the Marquette police, the woman immediately became distressed after jumping in the water off of Black Rocks. A floatation device was thrown to her. The group's cameraman and a park patrol officer came to her aid and assisted her back to shore.
She was treated for the onset of hypothermia and sought her own medical treatment after the incident.
