Three Michigan State University students volunteered their time to bring science to young students. Cameron Elementary School welcomed the MSU students with homemade signs and enthusiasm.
A variety of complex scientific facts were explained to the kids through fun, and sometimes messy, demonstrations.
To simplify thermodynamics, a squishy rubber racquet ball was smashed after being frozen hard. They also learned that molecules shrink when cold.
â??And then they put the balloon inside and it went all flat and then it wouldnâ??t fly up and then the wheel circle made our brain smaller,â?? said 2nd grader Ericka Hamilton. â??I learned a lot, yeah, I learned a lot.â??
The MSU threesome is heading back downstate tomorrow to continue learning, and possibly teaching, science.
