      Students get excited about art

More than 800 art pieces are on display at the Bonifas Fine Arts Center in Escanaba. The annual Youth in Art exhibit displays the works of kindergarten through twelfth graders throughout Delta and Schoolcraft Counties.

Students used a variety of mediums to create the pieces that are displayed on both levels of the art center. Guests can view pieces ranging from paper penguins to ceramic sushi, and everything in between. The exhibit is free, and everyone is encouraged to visit.

â??I really encourage people to come out and take a look at all the artwork here," said the art centerâ??s communication and programming coordinator, J.J. Spaulding. "These kids do such a great job and its encouraging them.â??

To celebrate the studentâ??s achievements, the center is holding a reception for the Kindergarten through fifth graders this Thursday; and sixth through twelfth graders next Thursday. Each reception goes from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The studentsâ?? work will be on display now through April 24.
