Students learn break dancing during Blueberry Dance Festival

The 13th annual Blueberry Festival is Friday, July 25 in downtown Marquette, but Monday the seventh annual Blueberry Dance Festival kicked off at Kaufman Auditorium.

Break dancer and MNU student, Jay Foy started classes by teaching students break dancing.

Break dancing is an artistic form of dance that originated in New York City.

This week students get to enjoy learning a number of dance styles including aerial fabric dance, ballet and modern dance.

"If I didn't dance, I wouldn't be doing anything at home. It gets me motivated to do things" says student Lauren Houle.

All classes this week will take place at Kaufman Auditorium, ending with a performance at 7 p.m. each night.

All ages are welcome. Registration is available here.
