      Students plant butterfly garden

Students from Northstar Academy spent some time Wednesday planting a butterfly garden at the Moosewood Nature Center in Marquette.

Kids are planting sunflower seeds, milkweed, and tick seed. The garden foundation was created a week ago by a group from Americorp.

The kids took on this project to help grow the bee population in the area.

"My art teacher kind of helped or actually encouraged me to come out here when my school wasn't and I actually helped dig the foundation of the garden," says fifth grader Phoenix Wasik.

A total of 144 kids from Northstar will be coming out to do some planting throughout the week.
